Vanda was born in Romania, where at a young age she started to train in Gymnastics. Her outstanding natural ability quickly led her to being selected to train on one of the top gymnastics teams in the world, the Romanian National Team. Through very hard work, discipline, and focus, Vanda went on to see the world as a very celebrated gymnastics competitor.
At the young age of five, Vanda was discovered by a Romanian gymnastics coach while at a playground with her parents. Within a few days Vanda was enrolled in her first gymnastics club. This club became Vanda’s second playground as she quickly fell in love with the sport. In no time at all, Vanda was again chosen to join a select group of gymnasts that showed great potential. Over the next five and a half years, Vanda’s love affair with gymnastics blossomed into another selection for the Junior National team. However, this forced Vanda to move away from home, family and friends to train with an elite group of girls and coaches.
At the junior national level, training could no longer be considered recreational as Vanda was now committing to training seven days a week with strict supervision. As Vanda continued to mature and develop under the elite coaching staff and with her new family of national team girls, her competitions also matured. International travel was now a common occurrence for this little girl.
At the age of twelve Vanda received yet another exclusive invitation, this time to join the Romanian National Gymnastics team, a powerhouse in the arena of gymnastics. Training seven days a week, with little time off each year other than touring the world competing, meant that Vanda was still far away from her home and family. There was now no room for error as Vanda devoted herself to training and competing with the best in the world. It would be this elite National team training that would shape Vanda into the inspirational woman she is today.
Vanda quickly proved that she belonged with the best. She was still young enough to compete as a junior and made the most of it, winning the Junior European Championships in Greece. Vanda went on to compete as a national level gymnast around the world with such highlights as a World championships bronze medal, a European Championships bronze medal and a Barcelona Olympics silver medal. Vanda left a legacy as one of the most graceful gymnasts of all time.
